Preparing for Back to School

Before you realize it, you will most likely begin to see back to school signs up at the local store, see school clothes commercials on TV, and hear more and more about getting ready for fall. This time comes quickly, and it is important that families prepare for another school year in order to have a successful year. Teacher spent many long hours preparing for another school year so that the transition is smooth and that all of the bumps are ironed out. It is important that parents take these same steps to ensure that the transition back into the school year is just as successful. It is important that students are readjusted to following a more strict and orderly schedule. Students will now have to wake up at a certain time everyday, eat at a certain time, return home at a set time, and be in bed at a set time. While this adjustment might be fairly easy for some students, it might also be more difficult for others. It is important that as parents we prepare our students for these changes, such as getting them used to the new sleeping schedule, and ensure they know what their morning routine will look like once school begins again.  With this extra preparation, we can help ensure that we all have a successful school year!

Summer for Students

While we can quickly list off a number of different fun activities to do in the summer, I am sure the first few that come to mind will not be very educational. It is important that we as teachers or parents help our students to remain engaged and focused, even throughout the summer. Whether your student enjoys reading outside, exploring, visiting museums, or watching educational movies, it is important that each student has the chance to remain engaged throughout the summer. It is important that all students have the opportunity to continue to learn and grow throughout the summer months. Below are some suggestions that parents and teachers might consider in order to keep their students engaged during these hot, summer months!

-Visit a local museum
-Participate in classes through a park district or YMCA
-Visit the library for some free books
-Visit national parks or memorials
-Complete a puzzle
-Learn a new game or sport
-Volunteer at a local shelter or organization
-Learn to pay and count change while shopping

About Me

Teachers have the chance to make a difference every day of their lives. The difference that they make, however, is greatest when everyone is able to work together to ensure the best for all students. This blog was created by a future teacher to help guide other teachers and parents to ensure that more students are reached and more students succeed. This blog was created by a future teacher who believes in the importance of community and everyone working together to educate and raise children. This blog will allow parents and teachers alike to seek out ideas and recommendations for their students or children, and have a friendly place to learn a little more about how they can best educate their children or students.
