While we can quickly list off a number of different fun activities to do in the summer, I am sure the first few that come to mind will not be very educational. It is important that we as teachers or parents help our students to remain engaged and focused, even throughout the summer. Whether your student enjoys reading outside, exploring, visiting museums, or watching educational movies, it is important that each student has the chance to remain engaged throughout the summer. It is important that all students have the opportunity to continue to learn and grow throughout the summer months. Below are some suggestions that parents and teachers might consider in order to keep their students engaged during these hot, summer months!
-Visit a local museum
-Participate in classes through a park district or YMCA
-Visit the library for some free books
-Visit national parks or memorials
-Complete a puzzle
-Learn a new game or sport
-Volunteer at a local shelter or organization
-Learn to pay and count change while shopping
